Basketball Recap: Abbott Comes Up Short

Abbott and Centerville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Abbott had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Centerville Bulldogs 70-38. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1273rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 547th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Slaten, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Slaten's 17th in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kolt Larsen, who dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 boards, and 12 assists.

Abbott's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Centerville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-6.

Abbott does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Centerville, they will square off against Calvert at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvert has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three matches.
