Recap: Newport Buffaloes vs. Upper Dauphin Area Trojans
The Newport Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 54-46 to Upper Dauphin Area. If Newport hoped to take revenge for the 51-46 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tai Caudle, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Caudle has scored all season. Ruben Moreno was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Newport has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Upper Dauphin Area, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-13.
Newport will take on Halifax at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Halifax is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for Upper Dauphin Area, they will head out on the road to square off against Greenwood at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Greenwood's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Upper Dauphin Area has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
