Softball Game Preview: Menchville Monarchs vs. Woodside Wolverines

For the second straight game, Menchville will face off against Woodside. The Monarchs will host the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Menchville turned things around against Woodside on Tuesday. They never let the Wolverines get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The game marked the Monarchs' most dominant win of the season so far.

Taylor Twitchell (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Twitchell (2027) was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brielle Creque (2027), who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Koskinas (2028), who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Menchville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodside struck out 12 times.

Woodside is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8. As for Menchville, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Menchville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Woodside struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
