Grayslake Central came tearing into Thursday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Antioch Sequoits with a sharp 56-36 victory. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Sequoits are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Antioch lost, don't look at Heidi Rathmann. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points. That was a full 50% of Antioch's points, marking the fourth time in a row Rathmann has put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlett Carroll, who earned seven points.

Grayslake Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.2 points over those games. As for Antioch, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-13.

As of now, neither Grayslake Central nor Antioch have any future games scheduled.
