Preview: Northside Christian Academy Crusaders vs. Greenwood Christian Hawks
Northside Christian Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Greenwood Christian Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Northside Christian Academy suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 49-28 walloping at the hands of Orangeburg Prep. Northside Christian Academy has not had much luck with Orangeburg Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Northside Christian Academy had strong showings from Arabella Yaroszewski, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds, and Natalie Walke, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Walke hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Kaleigh Howell was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Meanwhile, Greenwood Christian came up short against First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest on Thursday and fell 29-22.
Northside Christian Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Greenwood Christian, they bumped their record down to 6-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Northside Christian Academy strolled past Greenwood Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 51-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northside Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
