Langston Hughes hasn't had much luck against Sandy Creek recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Langston Hughes Panthers will take on the Sandy Creek Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Langston Hughes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Langston Hughes made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Douglas County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Langston Hughes' pitcher stepped up to hand Douglas County a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Ladanian Brock was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Salah Mckee, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Langston Hughes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Sandy Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 15-6 to Tucker.

Trey Maull was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Preston Andrews, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Sandy Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-9-1. As for Langston Hughes, their record now sits at 2-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Langston Hughes has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sandy Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Langston Hughes came up short against Sandy Creek in their previous matchup back in February of 2018, falling 11-6. Can Langston Hughes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
