Basketball Game Preview: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. St. Patrick Academy Padres

Ponaganset has gone 8-2 against St. Patrick Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Ponaganset Chieftains just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the St. Patrick Academy Padres at 7:00 p.m. Ponaganset will be strutting in after a win while St. Patrick Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Ponaganset took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-49 victory over Scituate. The Chieftains haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, St. Patrick Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-53 heartbreaker at the hands of North Smithfield.

Ponaganset pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for St. Patrick Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Everything came up roses for Ponaganset against St. Patrick Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ponaganset since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
