Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. School Without Walls Penguins
After eight games on the road, Roosevelt is heading back home. They will take on the School Without Walls Penguins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. School Without Walls took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Roosevelt, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, Roosevelt faced Ballou in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt blew past Ballou, posting a 55-23 win on the road. Roosevelt has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Roosevelt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lamar'sha Wilson out in front who scored 15 points along with six steals. Wilson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Jalyn Russ was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine steals.
Meanwhile, School Without Walls' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of McKinley Tech by a score of 40-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for School Without Walls in their matchups with McKinley Tech: they've now lost nine in a row.
Roosevelt now has a winning record of 7-6. As for School Without Walls, they bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Roosevelt was able to grind out a solid win over School Without Walls in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 48-40. Does Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will School Without Walls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
