Softball Recap: Vicksburg Has No Trouble Against West Lincoln

Vicksburg made up a huge gap compared to their last game against West Lincoln, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Vicksburg put the hurt on West Lincoln with a sharp 7-1 victory on Tuesday. The contest marked the Gators' most dominant win of the season so far.

Lili Kistler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits.

At the plate, Shandrea Lockridge was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery VanNorman, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Vicksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Vicksburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. West Lincoln has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vicksburg will take on Ridgeland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Vicksburg is facing Ridgeland at the right time seeing as Ridgeland is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for West Lincoln, they will square off against Amite County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Amite County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.45 runs per game on average), something West Lincoln will no doubt try to take advantage of.
