Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset Academy - Canyons). They blew past the Highlands Christian Knights 16-0 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Ryleigh Singer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Midgett, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Izzy Hall was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Somerset Academy - Canyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Somerset Academy - Canyons and bumps their season record up to 2-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 10.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.75 in the others. As for Highlands Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
