Baseball Recap: Florence Gets the Win

While Florence's win against Lauderdale County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Florence Falcons had just enough and edged out the Lauderdale County Tigers 3-2. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 17-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jace Brandon tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Florence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Neel Patel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Florence is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Lauderdale County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Coming up, Florence will face off against Deshler at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lauderdale County, they will welcome Decatur Heritage Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
