Baseball Recap: Williamson Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

Williamson won against Rain last Thursday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Lions beat the Red Raiders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Oneal Thomas and Tyler Gaines made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Thomas tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gaines pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thomas also tossed no walks, which is notable because Williamson is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise. At the plate, Thomas scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Gaines scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Kameron Sanks was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Williamson is 5-1 when Sanks posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Aaron Jackson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Williamson is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Rain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-15.

Williamson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rain, they will venture away from home to take on LeFlore at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
