Football Recap: Trinity Leadership Skates Past Rice with Ease

Trinity Leadership waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took their game with ease, bagging a 50-16 victory over the Rice Bulldogs. Considering the Tigers have won four contests by more than 33 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Trinity Leadership had a senior duo take command as Londen Cook threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes and Alvin Sims rushed for 229 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Sims is now averaging an impressive 101.2 rushing yards per game.

Trinity Leadership was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 333 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Trinity Leadership's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Jaden Nelson with two. He also made five total tackles, which is notable because Trinity Leadership is undefeated when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. Another thorn in Rice's side was Javan Shields, who made 13 total tackles (4.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

Although Rice took the loss, they still got scores from HUGO HERNANDEZ and BRODY LAWHON.

Trinity Leadership's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Rice, their loss dropped their record down to 3-4.

Trinity Leadership has already played their next game, a 44-14 victory against Scurry-Rosser on the 31st. As for Rice, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-14 defeat against Blooming Grove on the 31st.
