Flag Football Game Preview: North Pole Patriots vs. Wasilla Warriors

North Pole is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Wasilla is on a ten-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Patriots will host the Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (North Pole 7.1, Wasilla 6.9) so any points scored will be well earned.

North Pole is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Colony, who was ranked fourth at the time (North Pole was ranked second). The Patriots managed a 25-20 victory over the Knights on Friday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Pole to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taimane Skipps, who rushed for 118 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With that strong performance, Skipps is now averaging an impressive 100.1 rushing yards per game. Another rusher making a difference was Jade Skipps, who gained 244 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: North Pole was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 396 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 288 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

North Pole's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jaelynn Colby.

Meanwhile, while Wasilla put up plenty of points last Friday, the same can't be said for West Valley. The Warriors simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wolf Pack 64-0. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Wasilla's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for North Pole, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
