League recap: Powell County tops St. Ignatius to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in Western 6B this week, Powell County beat St. Ignatius 45-26. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Ronan lost to Loyola-Sacred Heart 48-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Connor Benn threw for 16 yards and ran for 70 yards in the defeat.

Ronan's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Chiefs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Benn has thrown for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Bryce Cullen has 7 catches for 128 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Powell County takes on Ronan. Al Cutler's team is in second place, while Jim Benn's team is in fourth place.

The Wardens made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,195 from 10,428. The advance stemmed from a 45-26 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
