Softball Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston Cogs vs. Winnebago Indians

The Genoa-Kingston Cogs will head out on the road to square off against the Winnebago Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Genoa-Kingston has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Genoa-Kingston fell victim to Rochelle and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Hubs, falling 15-0. The Cogs just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Genoa-Kingston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubree Simon, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Durand hit Winnebago with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians lost 11-4 to the Bulldogs.

Genoa-Kingston's loss dropped their record down to 10-17-1. As for Winnebago, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-13.

Genoa-Kingston couldn't quite get it done against Winnebago in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 9-4. Can the Cogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
