Softball Recap: Colleton County Takes a Loss

Colleton County lost against May River on April 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars fell 7-4 to the Sharks. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly three runs.

Bre Gerard put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gerard was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Xiomara Oxner was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Alexia Eversole was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Colleton County and nudges their season record down to 14-3. As for May River, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colleton County will take on Barnwell at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for May River, they will square off against Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
