Basketball Recap: Atlantis Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Atlantis had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Avon Panthers on Thursday, falling 86-41. The loss continues a trend for Atlantis in their meetings with Avon: they've now lost six in a row.

Thomas Edwards had a dynamite game For Avon., shooting 62% from beyond the arc to rack up 32 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The game was Edwards' 19th in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Douglas Ateku, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantis will take on Rising Tide in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Avon and South Shore Vo-Tech will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
