Baseball Game Preview: Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders vs. Alvin Yellowjackets

The Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders will venture away from home to face off against the Alvin Yellowjackets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Strake Jesuit put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They never let Alief Elsik get on the board and left with a 22-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Alvin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 16-2 win.

Alvin's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Strake Jesuit, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Strake Jesuit beat Alvin 5-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Strake Jesuit repeat their success, or does Alvin has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
