Baseball Recap: St. Augustine Comes Up Short

St. Augustine lost to Slidell back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Purple Knights took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Purple Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Xander Henry was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits.

St. Augustine's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Slidell, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will welcome John Curtis Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Purple Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Slidell, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:00 p.m.
