Recap: Homer Knights vs. Ponca Indians
The Homer Knights's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 48-35 victory over Ponca. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Homer did.
Alexandra Albrecht was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Hightree, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Ponca lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lily Korth, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Voss, who scored five points.
The victory got Homer back to even at 9-9. As for Ponca, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Homer will take on Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Laurel-Concord-Coleridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Thursday. Ponca does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
