Softball Game Preview: Paramount Pirates vs. Ramona Rams

The Paramount Pirates will face off against the Ramona Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Paramount 2.6, Ramona 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Paramount is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Newbury Park 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won three games in a row.

CLARISSA NORIEGA spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Laritza Esparza was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Francheska Torres was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Ramona sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Maranatha on Thursday.

Paramount's victory bumped their record up to 18-5-1. As for Ramona, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.
