Softball Recap: Sunnyslope Sets Scoring Season-High Against Millennium

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunnyslope). They blew past the Millennium Tigers 19-7 on Wednesday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Sunnyslope got a massive performance out of Sam Hyde, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave Hyde a new career-high. Miriam Boice was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one double.

Sunnyslope hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Sunnyslope's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Millennium, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Sunnyslope will take on Mohave in a tournament on Friday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.89 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Millennium, they will venture away from home to take on Alhambra at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
