Baseball Recap: St. Joseph's Catholic Wins Going Away Against James F. Byrnes

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Woodruff, St. Joseph's Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 12-4 margin over the James F. Byrnes Rebels. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Liam Okuley looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Sam Utecht was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Those runs were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Green, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

The victory got St. Joseph's Catholic back to even at 2-2. As for James F. Byrnes, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, St. Joseph's Catholic will face off against Riverside at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for James F. Byrnes, they will be taking part in a tournament against Woodruff at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
