Softball Recap: Grapevine Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Grapevine hadn't done well against Colleyville Heritage recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Grapevine was the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over Colleyville Heritage. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bella MacMahon tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Raegan Stanley was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Snyder, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Grapevine has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Colleyville Heritage's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-9-1.

Coincidentally, Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage will both be playing Argyle the next time they take the field. Grapevine will host Argyle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Colleyville Heritage will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
