Softball Recap: Crystal River Pirates vs. Chiefland Indians
Crystal River stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They never let the Chiefland Indians onto the board and left with a 10-0 win. Winning may never get old, but Crystal River sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Violet Flynn was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Flynn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive pitching appearances. Flynn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Athena Childs was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Hannah Messer was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base.
On Chiefland's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evie Meeks, who went 1-for-2 with a double.
