Softball Recap: Southport Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bloomington North on Wednesday, Southport came back down to earth. The Cardinals lost 13-1 to the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots on Saturday. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Southport saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ady Stansbury, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Southport's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Southport and Terre Haute North Vigo should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Cardinals will square off against Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (151 vs. 346). Meanwhile, Terre Haute North Vigo (ranked 32nd) will meet Northview (ranked 122nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
