Softball Recap: Rochester Wins Going Away Against Eastern

Rochester had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Eastern on Monday. The Zebras put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 15-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Zebras, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Bria Rensberger was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Jadyn Field was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Brailyn Hunter also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Rochester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Rochester's record is now 6-3. As for Eastern, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Rochester and Eastern will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Zebras are set to square off against their familiar foe Southwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Eastern will face off against rival Clinton Prairie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
