Ocean City faced Millville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Raiders came out on top against the Thunderbolts by a score of 11-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the game before.
Brooke Douglas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Ocean City let Leah Catto and Taylor Vaugh run wild. Catto scored two runs while going 4-for-5, while Vaugh scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. What's more, Vaugh posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabelle Shumski, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Ocean City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millville only posted a batting average of .303.
Ocean City's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Millville, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocean City will face off against St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Millville, they will head out to take on Vineland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
