Baseball Recap: Air Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Cheyenne Mountain

Air Academy faced Cheyenne Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Kadets fell just short of the Red-Tailed Hawks by a score of 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Air Academy saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Graniel, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Having lost for the first time this season, Air Academy fell to 9-1-1. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1-1.

Looking ahead, Air Academy will challenge Green Mountain at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Kadets 3.9, the Rams 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will face off against Thomas Jefferson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
