Preview: Oscar Smith Tigers vs. Hickory Hawks
Oscar Smith is 9-0 against Hickory since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Oscar Smith Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Hickory Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Oscar Smith is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hickory in Virginia (Oscar Smith is ranked 34th, while Hickory is ranked 224th).
Oscar Smith unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of King's Fork by a score of 21-19.
Meanwhile, Hickory had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Lakeland, posting a 35-0 victory at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Hickory just coasted through the last quarter.
King's Fork's win bumped their season record to 8-0 while Oscar Smith's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Oscar Smith against Hickory in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 74-13 win. Will Oscar Smith repeat their success, or does Hickory have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
