Tornillo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 9-4 to the Anthony Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-6 back in March.

Jeter Luna put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Luna wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Varela, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Tornillo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Anthony, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tornillo is set to challenge their familiar foe Presidio at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Anthony will take on rival Kermit at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Wildcats' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Yellow Jackets have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
