Basketball Recap: Gvanni Byron's Big Game Can't Quite Lead College Prep & Leadership Academy over Bartlett Yancey

The College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals came up short against the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers on Thursday and fell 58-47.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gvanni Byron, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Kellen Robinson, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Tyler Newcomb was a one-man wrecking crew For Bartlett Yancey. as he went 9-for-19 on his way to 24 points and five boards. What's more, Newcomb posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Jaidan Carolina was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Bartlett Yancey, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

College Prep & Leadership Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-61 defeat against Leadership Academy on the 21st. Hopefully Bartlett Yancey paid attention to the Royals' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
