Basketball Recap: Socrates Academy Comes Up Short

Socrates Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 57-12 loss at the hands of the Covenant Classical Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Owls came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Warriors are ranked 461st).

Leading Covenant Classical to victory were Amelia Miller and Reece Morro. Miller went 10-for-16 to rack up 23 points and four steals, while Morro posted 18 points and six steals. Morro is becoming a predictor of Covenant Classical's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 5-1 (and 4-8 when she doesn't). Brooke Rader was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Socrates Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Covenant Classical, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Socrates Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Covenant Classical, they will be playing at home against Oak Level Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
