Football Game Preview: West Plains Wolves vs. Dumas Demons

The West Plains Wolves will square off against the Dumas Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Dumas will be up against a hot West Plains squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wolves claimed a resounding 62-13 victory over Randall. With the Wolves ahead 49-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

West Plains relied on the efforts of SLADE RUSSELL, who gained 221 total yards and three touchdowns, and REID MACON, who threw for 233 yards and three TDs while completing 90% of his passes. RUSSELL's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 129 rushing yards. KADE SCHNEIDER was another key player, picking up 87 receiving yards and one touchdown.

West Plains' run defense was locked in: Randall could only muster 2.1 yards per carry. While one picked up at least four total tackles, ERIC VU stood above the rest. He rushed for 41 yards. West Plains didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.9.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Dumas and Hereford, and Dumas kept the tradition alive. The Demons really took it to the Whitefaces for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-10 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Demons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Whitefaces are ranked 664th).

West Plains' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Dumas, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Everything came up roses for West Plains against Dumas when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-14 victory. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
