Basketball Recap: Mia Galassini's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Cecilia Academy over Trousdale County

St. Cecilia Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Trousdale County Yellowjackets an easy 60-34 win. While losing is never fun, the Scarabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 132nd).

St. Cecilia Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Galassini, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. That's the most points Galassini has posted since back in November of 2023. Ndidiamaka Umeukeje was another key player, putting up six points along with nine boards and six blocks.

Even though they lost, St. Cecilia Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

St. Cecilia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Trousdale County, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

St. Cecilia Academy will host Brentwood Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Trousdale County and Christian Community will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th.
