Basketball Recap: Hobart Takes a Loss

Hobart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They took a blow against the Hammond Central Wolves, falling 79-44. The Brickies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-20.

Hobart's loss came despite strong showings from Riley Weber and Audrey Wendel. Weber posted ten points and six boards, while Wendel went 5 for 7 to rack up 15 points. Those 15 points gave Wendel a new career-high.

Leading Hammond Central to victory were Ciyah Thomas and Indiah Hutchinson. Thomas went 11 of 24 on her way to 28 points and five steals, while Hutchinson went 9 for 17 en route to 23 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The game was Thomas' fourth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Valencia Miller, who went 5 of 8 to rack up 13 points.

Hobart's record now sits at 3-18. As for Hammond Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Hobart didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-33 defeat against Valparaiso on the 4th. As for Hammond Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-34 win against Crown Point on the 4th.
