Softball Recap: Marion Comes Up Short

Marion was the 11-10 winner over Fort Chiswell when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Scarlet Hurricanes took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers on Monday. The Scarlet Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marion's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Fort Chiswell, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Marion will take on Virginia High at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scarlet Hurricanes are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Fort Chiswell, they will head out to face off against Bland County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.56 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
