Softball Game Preview: Palmer Bulldogs vs. Maypearl Panthers

For the second straight game, Palmer will face off against Maypearl. The Bulldogs will challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Palmer has three straight wins, Maypearl has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Palmer earned an 8-4 victory over Maypearl.

Kenli Dobie made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corie Caldwell, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Yates, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Palmer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Maypearl's loss dropped their record down to 11-11-2. As for Palmer, their record now sits at 10-12-1.
