Basketball Game Preview: Prince George's Christian Academy Flyers vs. Academy of the New Church Lions

The Prince George's Christian Academy Flyers will face off against the Academy of the New Church Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Prince George's Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Academy of the New Church likes a good challenge.

Prince George's Christian Academy picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against R.W. Goines Stem Academy by a score of 71-64. Given the Flyers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 23rd in Maryland, while R.W. Goines Stem Academy are ranked 331st in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Academy of the New Church entered their tilt with Friends' Central on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 57-44 win over Friends' Central.

Academy of the New Church's win came from a few key players Prince George's Christian Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryce Rollerson, who went 6 of 14 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dior Carter, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Academy of the New Church smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Academy of the New Church has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Prince George's Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
