Basketball Recap: Ahoskie Christian Skates Past Unity Christian Academy with Ease

Ahoskie Christian posted their biggest victory since November 1, 2024 on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 65-30 win over the Unity Christian Academy Warriors. Ahoskie Christian pushed the score to 52-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Unity Christian Academy had little chance of recovering from.

Ahoskie Christian was led to victory by Lilly Lassiter and Mara Dae White. Lassiter went 10 of 24 on her way to 31 points and five steals, while White went 8 for 17 en route to 21 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. The match was White's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Kaylee Jones was another key player, putting up four points and eight rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Ahoskie Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Unity Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kayleigh Ballance posted nine points along with five boards and four steals. Ballance is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lena Timmons, who had eight points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Ahoskie Christian and bumps their season record up to 8-11. As for Unity Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ahoskie Christian will challenge Mount Calvary Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mount Calvary Christian Academy will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Ahoskie Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Unity Christian Academy, they will take on Heritage Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
