Basketball Recap: Archbishop Ryan Takes a Loss

Archbishop Ryan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the William Penn Charter Quakers on the road by a 72-57 margin. While the Raiders and Ragdolls didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Quakers 19-15 in the first quarter.

Defeat or not, Archbishop Ryan got some senior leadership from Malik Hughes and Kaden Brown. Hughes posted 20 points and seven boards, while Brown shot 41% from the field on his way to 18 points and three steals. Seth Gaye was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Archbishop Ryan's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for William Penn Charter, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Ryan will take on Academy of the New Church at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for William Penn Charter, they will square off against Friends' Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
