Basketball Recap: Curtis Baptist's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Curtis Baptist entered their game against Paintsville on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The contest between the Curtis Baptist Crusaders and the Paintsville Tigers didn't end well, with the Curtis Baptist Crusaders falling 64-47. The Crusaders just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Curtis Baptist saw an underclassman step up: freshman Treivan Wright went 11 of 17 en route to 27 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Wiltrez (Trez) Mincey, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Curtis Baptist's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-7. As for Paintsville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Curtis Baptist will host Mead Hall Episcopal School at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Paintsville, they will take on Belfry in a tournament on Friday. One thing working in Belfry's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matches.
