Football Recap: Asheville School (Independent) Starts Season with Win Against Hayesville

Asheville School (Independent) gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They really took it to the Hayesville Yellowjackets for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Blues' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 217th).

Asheville School (Independent) got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marvyn Larozar out in front who picked up 112 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 79 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Larozar's longest reception was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Jonas Howard was another key passer, throwing for 187 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 7-for-7 passing.

Asheville School (Independent) wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 47-30 win against Webb on the 29th. As for Hayesville, they have also already played their next game, a 21-20 victory against Enka on the 29th.
