Volleyball Recap: Notre Dame Academy Regal Gryphons vs. Sierra Canyon Trailblazers

Notre Dame Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Regal Gryphons of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September.

Notre Dame Academy took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-15, 25-23.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sierra Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madeleine Zaragoza, who had eight digs and five aces. That's the most aces Zaragoza has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Olive Shum, who had nine digs and 15 assists.

Notre Dame Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Sierra Canyon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season.

Notre Dame Academy is on the road again on Thursday to play Chaminade at 6:00 p.m. As for Sierra Canyon, they will welcome Marymount at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marymount will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Sierra Canyon surely won't give up without a fight.
