Basketball Preview: Southeast Cyclones vs. Rock River Longhorns
Southeast is 5-0 against the Longhorns since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Southeast Cyclones will head out on the road to face off against the Rock River Longhorns at 1:30 p.m. Southeast is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Southeast didn't have too much trouble with the Broncs at home as they won 51-37. The win was just what Southeast needed coming off of a 71-39 defeat in their prior game.
Southeast can attribute much of their success to Ayden Desmond, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and TJ Moats, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Moats is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Beaux Shimic, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Rock River, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They were outmatched by Encampment on the road and fell 74-16.
The victory got Southeast back to even at 8-8. As for Rock River, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
Everything went Southeast's way against the Longhorns in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the Cyclones made off with a 56-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southeast since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
