Gage Friesen Drops League-Best Performance on Friday

Starting off the list is High Plains's Gage Friesen, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Friesen rushed for 196 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble, making 20 total tackles, and defending four passes in addition to snagging an interception.

On the season, Friesen has run in 17 touchdowns while averaging 153.4 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 27.14 rushing yards per game.

Steve Orme Turns in Another Game with at Least 118 Rushing Yards

Steve Orme continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his fourth-straight game with at least 118 rushing yards. He rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (102.6). He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.

Deshler's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. Orme and Deshler will square off against High Plains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Underclassman Wyatt Frey Comes Up Big Against High Plains

While Lawrence-Nelson couldn't topple High Plains on Friday, it's impossible to ignore the impact made by underclassman Wyatt Frey. Nobody could stop Frey as he rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 63 yards and a touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards.

This season, Frey has thrown 10 touchdowns while averaging 103 passing yards per game.

Lukas Worster Turns in Season-Best Performance

On Friday, Nebraska Lutheran had to settle for second even though Lukas Worster put up the best numbers he has all season. Worster picked up 217 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 64 yards.

Nebraska Lutheran's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. Worster and Nebraska Lutheran will face off against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Koontz Made His Presence Known in Nebraska Lutheran's 73-34 Defeat

Another Nebraska Lutheran player making an appearance on this list is Weston Koontz. He threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown.

On the season, Koontz has thrown 15 touchdowns while averaging 189 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 2.71 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 32.86 rushing yards.
