Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends St. Ignatius' Winning Streak

It was a good run, but St. Ignatius unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 6-3 to the Archbishop Hoban Knights. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Marcus Tekancic was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

St. Ignatius' defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Archbishop Hoban, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

St. Ignatius and Archbishop Hoban should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Wildcats will challenge Westlake at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 105). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Ignatius 3.7, the Demons 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Archbishop Hoban (ranked 73rd) will meet Shaker Heights (ranked 510th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
