Baseball Game Preview: Open Door Christian Patriots vs. Oberlin Phoenix

The Open Door Christian Patriots will take on the Oberlin Phoenix at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Open Door Christian has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 26.

Open Door Christian lost 17-9 to Fairview on Saturday.

Evan Reed made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Oberlin came up short against Independence on Thursday and fell 5-1. The Phoenix have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oberlin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Steggall, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Open Door Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Oberlin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Open Door Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oberlin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Open Door Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Oberlin when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Phoenix turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
