Softball Recap: Saint Francis Picks Up 12th Straight Win on the Road

Saint Francis came tearing into Wednesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs. The Lancers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Monarchs, too.

Mercedes Coller looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Peyton Tsao was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Saint Francis pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Mitty, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5-1 record this season.

Saint Francis will square off against Gilroy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Archbishop Mitty, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th.
